The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.
Bhikhusinhji Chatursinhji Parmar of BJP defeated Rajendrasinh Shivsinh Thakor of INC by 34,788 votes in Modasa assembly seat in Aravalli district. BJP candidate got 98,475 votes while Congress got 63,687 votes here. You were at number three. Its candidate Professor Rajendrasinh Himmatsinh Parmar got 14,771 votes, which was only 7.95 percent of the total votes. Here the deposits of 10 including AAP and CPM candidates were forfeited. CPM candidate Dahyabhai Ramabhai Jadav got only 1,044 votes. Whereas, NOTA got 2,585 votes here.
BJP victorious on all seats of Aravalli district
Modasa seat is one of the three seats in Aravalli district. There are only three seats in this district. The BJP has won three seats in the district in this assembly election.
Congress had won here in 2017
The Congress had won the Modasa seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In 2017, the Congress had made Rajendrasinh Shivsinh Thakor its candidate. He defeated the BJP candidate by just 1,640 votes. A total of eight candidates were in the fray here. The deposits of six of these candidates were forfeited. Rajendra Singh won from here in 2012 also on a Congress ticket. At the same time, earlier in 1995, 1998, 2002 and 2007 BJP’s Dilip Singh Parmar had won the Modasa seat for four consecutive terms. A total of 15 elections have been held on this seat so far, including the by-election held in 1987. Of these, seven times Congress, five BJP and one each Janata Dal (1990), Bharatiya Jana Sangh (1975) and Swatantra Party (1967) have won.
